After Padmaavat, the Maharashtra Karni Sena now seems to be targetting Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika, a biopic based on Rani Of Jhansi, Lakshmi Bai, also known as Manikarnika.
As it turns out, Karni Sena sent a letter to the producers of the movie saying that if the image of Rani Laxmi Bai is maligned or if she is shown to be the lover of some Britisher, the makers would face consequences. They also said that the movie would face protests.
Kangana took immediate and bold action and said that she is a Rajput and she would destroy ‘each one of them’ if they harass her.
Kangana said in a statement, ” Four historians have certified Manikarnika, we have got censor certificate as well, Karni Sena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. If they don’t stop then they should know I am also a Rajput and I will destroy each one of them.”
Prasoon Joshi, who is the chairman of CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), has himself been closely involved with the film. He even wrote the dialogues and the lyrics of the songs of the movie. Today, a special screening of the movie had been organized for the President Ram Nath Loving at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
The film is slated to be released on January 25.
