The team of Marathi film Gondhal met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the film’s journey after its selection as India’s official entry to the Oscars.
Delegation Seeks Financial and Infrastructural Support
The meeting was initiated by filmmaker and IFTDA President Ashoke Pandit and led by Ameet Satam, President of BJP Mumbai. The delegation appealed to the Chief Minister for financial and infrastructural support for the film’s promotional and representation-related activities in the United States.
Industry Representatives Join Oscar Campaign Appeal
Written, directed and produced by Santosh Davakhar and produced by Diksha Davakhar, Gondhal is set to represent India on an international platform. The team highlighted the need for adequate resources and institutional support to take the film’s campaign forward in the US, according to an official statement.
The delegation included FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey, IFTDA representatives Nishant Ujwal and filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi, along with cast members Kishore Kadam, Ishita Deshmukh and Yogesh Sohani.

For the makers, Gondhal’s Oscar journey marks an important milestone not only for the film but also for Marathi cinema, as the team seeks to showcase the film and the regional industry on the global stage.
