The wedding of Isha Ambani, the daughter of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani is most likely going to be the most expensive weddings ever. This could be the wedding of the century so to speak. A week-long lavish wedding with performances from Beyonce and invitations to all the A-List Actors is estimated to cost over a whopping $100 million as per Livemint. To put things in perspective, Prince Charles and Diana’s wedding cost $110 million in today’s dollars while Prince William & Kate Middleton’s wedding cost just $34 million.
Earlier in 2004, the wedding of Vanisha Mittal, who is the daughter of Lakshmi Mittal, cost $66 million. Actress Kylie Minogue was paid $330,000 to perform for just half an hour. Afterward, a firework display was launched from the Eiffel Tower.
Coming back to the wedding of the century, Isha Ambani is tying the knot with billionaire Ajay Piramal’s son Anand Piramal in the most lavish affair ever. The wedding is scheduled to take place on 12 December in Udaipur. According to the people associated with the wedding, the guest list is so long that the Ambanis and Piramals have taken more than five five-star hotels nearby. Not just that, there is a setup back in Mumbai to manage logistics. To top it off, more than 100 chartered flights will fly guests to and from Udaipur’s Airport.
As per the statement from the family representatives, the Ambanis donated food in order to feed 5,100 people three meals a day for four days. They also set up a market or ‘haat’ to showcase traditional Indian paintings and other art from local artisans as gratitude to the city of Udaipur.
The main ceremony will be held at the 27-story Antilia palace in Mumbai. Post the wedding, the couple would move into their $64-million diamond-themed mansion at the Gulita building in Mumbai according to a report by Livemint.
