We won’t be exaggerating when we say that it was Tanushree Dutta who bravely started the #MeToo movement in India. The movement in the west did little to encourage women in India to come forward. The #metoo movement started gaining momentum in India only after Tanushree Dutta came forward with her account of abuse and harassment, accusing actor Nana Patekar and director Vivek Agnihotri of inappropriate conduct in two separate incidents during the shooting of a film in 2008.
Ever since then, from Vinta Nanda, Sandhya Mridul to Sona Mohapatra and Amyra Dastur, a lot of other women took to their social media accounts to narrate their own experiences. The #metoo hashtag has since become a weapon against the sexual harassment, thanks to Tanushree. Many prominent personalities have come under the scanner for sexual harassment up till now which includes Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Anu Malik, Jatin Das, Subhash Kapoor and so on.
The journey has not been easy for Tanushree but she has come out stronger than before. Today, she took to her social media handle and posted pictures with her family as she left for the USA.
She captioned her pictures as, “On my way to USA!! Feels strange returning after almost 6 months. Will miss my family the most!! #lifejourneys.”

In another post, Tanushree had a savage response to people posting snide remarks to her Instagram account.
She said, “Long journey ahead!! So finally have the free time to block all those followers who post nasty comments on my insta account so that only my well-wishers get the updates on my life. Buzz off pathetic losers!! Your opinion or your life is both worth shit to me. You will do nothing better in your life than trolling public figures.”
