Girlyveda Donates 30,000 Sanitary Pads to Combat Period Poverty

In a concerted effort to address menstrual health challenges among underprivileged women, women’s wellness brand Girlyveda has donated over 30,000 sanitary pads across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana since the launch of its donation drive on January 26 last year.

The initiative targets marginalised women and girls living on roadsides, in homeless camps, and those supported by NGOs. By distributing sanitary pads and conducting menstrual hygiene awareness sessions, the brand aims to make menstrual care more accessible while challenging deep-rooted taboos.

Addressing Access, Education, and Dignity

“Menstrual hygiene should never be a luxury. For many underprivileged women, even affording a meal is a challenge—leaving period care as an afterthought. Our mission is to ensure that no woman is forced to choose between her dignity and survival. This initiative is not just about donations; it’s about fostering awareness, education, and a sense of community, where no woman feels alone in this struggle,” said Danny Kumar Meena, Founder and CEO at Girlyveda.

Despite growing awareness, menstrual health remains a pressing issue in India. Studies show that 70 percent of rural women still lack access to safe menstrual products, and 25 percent of adolescent girls miss school during their periods due to inadequate care. Girlyveda says its campaign addresses both the immediate need for sanitary products and the long-term goal of menstrual health education.

Digital Outreach Fuels Community Support

The brand has also leveraged digital platforms to expand its reach. Through an ongoing social media campaign, Girlyveda pledges to donate one sanitary pad for every new Instagram follower—a move that has significantly boosted public engagement and support for the cause.

Recent contributions include support to Pehchaan The Street School, an NGO focused on education and welfare for underprivileged children.

In addition to providing access, Girlyveda says it is committed to sustainability through the distribution of biodegradable sanitary pads, aligning its social mission with environmental responsibility.
