Easy kitchen tips for your good health!

As they say, a neat and clean kitchen, reflects a lady’s personality! Though it’s a task to keep kitchen tidy, but there is no way out really. If your kitchen is dirty and unhygenic, you are inviting diseases for you, and your family. Here are a few tips for maintaining basic kitchen hygiene.

Clean it up, keep it minimal:

Junk the appliances or items that you no longer use as they gather dust and occupy space. Sort out things that you use regularly, keep only those. This way your kitchen will look spacious and you will not get hassled.

Clean up the refrigerator:

Before going out for your weekly grocery shopping, clean up your fridge. Throw away rotten vegetable and fruits, if any. Make sure you buy only that stuff, that you are going to consume. Also, throw away food stuff that has crossed the expiry date.

Use a closed bin:

Your kitchen bin must have a lid and you should keep it shut all the time. This prevents spread of germs and flies. You must clean your bin regularly, wash and disinfect it. Accumulation of waste is not hygienic for kitchen.

Keep separate chopping boards:

Food stuff like chicken and fish should not be chopped on the same board which is used for chopping veggies. Don’t mix chopping boards.

Clean the wiping cloth:

The cloth that you use for wiping surfaces should be washed regularly. Keep two different clothes for wiping dishes. Also, keep separate napkins to wipe utensils and clean hands.

Keep a paper towel:

Raw food items like meat or eggs should be cleaned with paper towels to prevent contamination. Do not use your regular towels.

Don’t leave the pans and cutlery dirty for long:

Dirty items attract germs and bacteria. So, the used pans and cutlery should be washed and stacked properly. Wash the cutlery with soap and hot water, if possible.

Clean the surfaces regularly:

Keep surfaces like door knobs, light switches, handles and buttons clean. There are chances of them being breeding grounds for bacteria.

Wash hands before cooking:

Always clean your hands before entering kitchen. Also, always wash fruits and vegetables. Store food grains properly. Dirty kitchen has direct impact on health.
