Yesterday, The Cut published an article on Priyanka Chopra calling her ‘a global scam artist’ among other things. After widespread criticism, the publication took down the article and issued a public apology.
New York’s magazine The Cut had published a controversial article titled “Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?” in which the magazine insinuated that their marriage is fraudulent. The article started off by calling Priyanka a ‘scam artist’ who supposedly tricked Nick Jonas into a lifelong commitment when all he wanted was just a fling.
The article stated: “Priyanka’s indulgences and what she views as necessities speak volumes to her personality and what she’ll do, or think she needs to do, for her career….”
The journalist who wrote the article stooped down even further and insinuated that the couple got married to make money.
The article further said, “Priyanka and Nick are finding ways for their ‘love’ make them money – circumventing the methods used by the celebrities of yore, who stuck to selling their wedding or baby photos to magazines,”.
The page is now removed from their website and the bottom text reads-
“Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards. We’ve removed it and apologize.”

The article received a lot of criticism and backlash from celebrities with people pointing out how sexist, racist the article is.
For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you! https://t.co/bmbbX7LrAT

While the article was taken down soon enough, many people were of the opinion that merely taking is down wasn’t enough and the apology wasn’t strong enough.
