It all started with taking part in Indian Idol 2 way back in 2006. Since then life seems to be going on greater heights for this Bengali beauty. Singing sensation Antara Mitra, who recently has been rocking the charts with numbers like Saree ke fall sa and Kaddu katega from R..Rajkumar. Antara who has given hit numbers like Bheegi si bhagi si from Rajneeti, talks to WSL about her career and future plans.
Q.Your latest number, Saree ke fall sa has turned out to be a huge hit. How was it working with Prabhu Deva,Sonkashi and Shahid.
A. Well I have not met Shahid or Sonakshi but yes I met Prabhu Deva. He is very happy and feels great about the song Saree ke fall sa.. This song has given good hype to the movie before and after release. It feels great to be a part of such a hit number.
Q.From Indian Idol 2 in 2006 till now, how has the journey been so far.
A. Its been a dream come true journey. I could not have asked for more.
Q.You have done playback for quite a number of movies by now. Which music director do you enjoy working with the most.
A.Pritam Da.. THE BEST !
Q.You are remembered best for numbers like Bheegi si bhagi si from Rajneeti. However, Kaddu Katega is very different from such romantic numbers. Was this shift on purpose? Tell us more about this track.
A. No the shift was not on purpose. But yes it has surely given a different dimension to my career. This song is definitely not the kind I sang before, but it’s surely one of the styles I can come up with. It shows my versatility as well. I am happy that Pritam Da showed his faith on me and gave me such a song which nobody could ever think that I could render.
Q.So, which female singer do you idolize the most in the film industry among the current lot.
A.Sunidhi Chauhan
Q.Which actor would you like to play back for?
A.I Want to playback for Madhuri Dixit
Q.What would be your ideal song like
A. My ideal song would be an out an out romantic number written by none other than Gulzar Sahab.
Q.Would you like to pass on a message to all those young girls who aspire to be where you are today?
A.I am still in the learning process but I believe being calm and focused is the key to success.
