Amid the reports of the feud between the Royal couples Kate-William and Harry-Meghan, there are rumors doing the round that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not even consider Kate and William as godparents to their first child. This is coming after Meghan and Harry skipped the celebrations of Kate’s birthday on 9th of January.
There also seems to be another reason to exclude Kate and William. As per traditions, Royals very rarely go for direct brothers or sisters. Kate and Prince William also chose distant relatives to be the godparents of their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
However, in the case of Harry and Meghan, they are considering outsiders as well, aside from distant relatives, to take up the role.
As per royal commentor Andrea Boehlke, “We’ve been talking about Jessica Mulroney, she has to have a shoe in. She’s Meghan’s best friend.”
He also added that since Meghan is very close to Serena Williams and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, she might also consider them for the role.As far as the relatives are concerned, she added, “Perhaps Princess Eugenie again. They are very close. She lives in Kensington Palace, very close to them.”
There is a strong chance of Priyanka becoming the godmother of Meghan and Harry’s firstborn, having been made it to one of the few contenders for the same. Priyanka and Meghan do share a strong bond and Priyanka also attended Meghan’s royal wedding on May 19 last year and also took to social media to express her feelings about her friend’s big day.
She wrote, “Every once in a while there is a moment when time stands still . that happened today. You my friend were the epitome of grace, love and beauty,”.
Currently, the Duchess of Sussex is 6 months pregnant and her expected due date is in April.
