The trending video of a young talented girl and her team singing the famous Qawwali ‘Chaap Tilak & Lal Meri’ is making rounds on the internet, starting from Facebook where the video has been liked by more than 48 thousand people, shared 54 thousand times and seen 3.4 million times. And the numbers are just not stopping.

But who is this girl? And what’s her story?

She is Maithili Thakur, a 18-year-old rising star from Mithila, Bihar. Born on 25 July 2000 in Madhubani, Bihar. Maithili is a beautiful singer and her classical singing has won her a lot of fans in Bihar and across the country ever since she made her debut in Indian Idol Junior 2 and then participated in the show Rising Star (Season 1) where she was the first runner-up. She also made a comeback in season 2 of Rising Star and paired up with Hemant Brijwasi for a duet performance which receives high praise from judges Shankar Mahadevan, Monali Thakur, and Diljit Dosanjh. She rose to great popularity after the show Rising Star and has by now performed in over 500 shows. She mesmerizes everyone with her soulful and beautiful voice. She is a trained classical singer and in 2016, she launched her album ‘Ya Rabb’ with Tannishtha Puri.

She started singing at the early age of 10 and has won so many awards and achievements which are listed as follows:

● Top 30 Contestant in Little Champs 2011.
● Top 20 Contestant in Indian Idol Junior 2.
● I Genius Young Singing Stars Season 2 Winner.
● 5 times winner in classical music category in Delhi State Level Competition.
● One time winner in semi-classical category in Delhi State Level Competition.
● 3rd Position in National Youth Festival 2017.
