Ananya Birla has announced the launch of Birla Studios, a new film banner focused on developing high-concept, prestige-driven commercial cinema. The studio aims to mount culturally resonant stories that combine artistic distinction with broad audience appeal across Indian and international markets.
A studio rooted in expression and scale
Rooted in Ananya Birla’s belief in cinema as a medium of expression, the studio is committed to curating cinema that creates an immediate emotional connection while leaving an indelible mark. The official release added that, with a strong emphasis on creative ambition and commercial viability, Birla Studios aims to shape films that are both meaningful and widely engaging.

Birla Studios will prioritise projects that forge an instant emotional bond while carrying long-term relevance. The banner seeks to balance creative ambition with commercial viability, backing films that are both significant and accessible, while nurturing emerging talent and new voices.

A multilingual, cross-border vision
The studio is assembling a multi-language slate spanning Hindi, Gujarati, and Malayalam, among other regional industries, in addition to international English-language productions. The move signals an ambition to engage audiences across geographies while retaining cultural specificity.
Launched in 2026, Birla Studios describes itself as genre-agnostic, with an emphasis on scale, craft and storytelling ambition. The company plans to back films with strong theatrical and global potential while supporting bold ideas and promising creators.
Ananya Birla: Entrepreneur, producer, artist
Ananya Birla, who has built businesses across financial services, consumer brands, global trading and real estate, currently serves as Founder and Chairperson of Svatantra Microfin, which she has led to become one of India’s largest microfinance institutions. In 2025, she also introduced Contraband and LOVETC under Birla Cosmetics, expanding her presence in the consumer space.
Apart from her corporate career, Birla has also achieved recognition as a music artist, becoming the first Indian performer with multiple English-language multi-platinum singles in India and the first to feature on an American national Top 40 chart. She was also named among the promising voices at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2026.
