Giving sportswear a fashionable look Adidas has collaborated with Marimekko for the first time, marking the iconic Finnish design house’s first sports apparel collaboration. The collaboration honours uniting through the thrill of exploration – the driving factor that drives the world moving and progressing in sport, art, and life. Marimekko’s art of printmaking and functional style is seamlessly blended with adidas’ expertise in athletic performance in the new collection.
The first joint collection includes two iconic Marimekko prints:
Annika Rimala’s 1965 Laine (wave) print and Maija Louekari’s 2009 Räsymatto (rag rug). The head-to-toe looks are perfect for participating in recreational activities such as swimming, running, biking, and walking. The collection was designed with sustainability in mind, and it includes new materials and methods to help reduce environmental impact, such as PRIMEBLUE and PRIMEGREEN recycled yarns.
Adidas x Marimekko Graphic Cycling Jersey:
The new graphic print jersey comes in two colourways and offers a slim silhouette, making it a must-have for anyone heading out on their bike this summer. AEROREADY performance fabric keeps the athlete dry while on the move, while PRIMEBLUE – a high performance recycled fabric created in part with Parley Ocean Plastic – helps ensure the garment is environment friendly.
Adidas x Marimekko Short:
The shorts are designed for performance running and come in two iconic Marimekko prints, one vivid red and one monochrome. The garment is made with signature Adidas performance materials such as AEROREADY, which helps keep the athlete dry while on the move, and PRIMEGREEN, a high-performance recycled material, which ensures the garment is made with the environment in mind. The shorts cost INR 2999 only.
There are 30 total pieces, many of which are available in multiple colorways. The Bra costs INR 2699 only while the tights cost INR 3299.
