There’s something about a lazy Sunday afternoon that invites you to step out, embrace the sun, and indulge in life’s little pleasures. Whether it’s catching up with friends or simply taking a break from the week’s grind, nothing says “weekend bliss” quite like brunch. My friend and I had Bawri on our list for just that—a slow, leisurely Sunday meal. The skies were clear, the mood light, and thanks to some prior planning, our table was ready when we arrived, setting the tone for a perfect dining experience.
Bawri, KBC
Situated in the bustling G Block of BKC, Bawri isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. The first thing you notice as you walk in is its stunning interior. The 4,500 sq foot space is designed around a large circular bar, modeled after the iconic stepwells of Gujarat. It immediately transports you into a realm where heritage meets contemporary charm. With cabana seating and towering glass windows that stretch from floor to ceiling, Bawri bathes in natural light, adding a fresh, inviting warmth to the space.

Local Flavors and Chef’s Signature Dishes
We settled near the bar, which boasts an impressive range of both cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. The menu itself reads like a love letter to Indian cuisine, offering both familiar and inventive dishes. For the lovers of variety, the menu spans both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, with an emphasis on rich Indian flavors using locally sourced ingredients. There’s everything from Gutti Aloo and Kakori Kebab to Raan Biryani, and even litti smoked baingan, Manipuri black rice dosa, and Kovalam lobster from down south, showcasing the chef’s travels and experiences.
What pleasantly surprised me was the thoughtful inclusion of multigrains like ragi, jowar, and other millets across several dishes, making it a delight for those mindful of wholesome eating.
The Vegetarian Experience
We kicked off our meal with yogurt kebabs—perfectly crispy on the outside and soft within. The Gucchi stuffed mushrooms, enriched with a mushroom butter, Nachni, and walnut soil, were a hit, elevating the humble mushroom to a decadent dish. Of course, no meal would be complete without the classics. The Dal Makhni, slow-cooked in rich white butter, was absolutely heavenly. But the highlight for me was the Chef’s recommended Final Table Paneer Kofta. If you’re familiar with Chef Amninder Sandhu’s stellar performance on the Netflix show The Final Table, you’ll appreciate how flawlessly this dish is executed, as it was on the show.
A Décor that Honors Indian Craftsmanship
As we indulged, I couldn’t help but admire the attention to detail in the décor. From the jute-weaved ceiling pieces, hand-stitched by artisans from Rajasthan, to the Jaipur carpets that adorned the bar, every element felt like a nod to India’s diverse craftsmanship. It’s this blend of artistry and modernity that makes Bawri not just a place to eat, but to savor.
While we focused on the vegetarian delicacies, it’s worth noting that Bawri also offers a robust non-vegetarian menu for those who enjoy a variety of options. From succulent kebabs to hearty curries, the restaurant caters to a wide array of palates, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Dessert Bliss
By the time we reached the dessert stage, we were comfortably full, but the Kesar Jalebi with Rabdi was a must-try. Light, crispy, and just the right amount of sweet, the jalebi was the perfect conclusion to a rich meal. The Rabdi was frothy and light, offering a delicate contrast to the jalebi’s sweetness—a true celebration of classic Indian desserts done right.
When we finally wrapped up our meal, we felt full—not just in stomach but in spirit. Bawri manages to combine comfort food with a dining experience that feels both luxurious and homely, perfect for those looking to unwind in the heart of the city.

If you’re ever in the area, it’s a must-visit. Whether it’s for brunch or a late-night dinner, Bawri offers a little something for everyone, with prices starting at Rs 5,000 for four. And with their extensive menu of drinks and signature cocktails, you might just find yourself coming back for seconds.
Perfect Spot for Your Next Brunch or Dinner
So the next time you’re looking to spend a leisurely afternoon or celebrate a special dinner, consider Bawri. It’s more than just a meal—it’s a journey through India’s culinary and artistic landscapes.
