Weekend Strawberry Donut Recipe

‘Donut’ sweet, round and yummlicious confectionery is a huge hit among kids and grown up’s. One small bite of soft dunut can make your day ! They say sailor Dutchman Hanson Gregory discovered this cake better with a hole in the middle.

While traveling he ordered his cook to make Donuts instead of cakes for the rest of the voyage.Well,that’s a short donut story for you ! Now time to bring happiness on your loved once face by making Strawberry Donuts at home !

Ingredients

  • 450 to 500 gm plain flour
  • 60g butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 260ml milk
  • vegetable oil for frying

Directions

Mix flour and baking powder into a bowl and rub in butter. Mix in the sugar. Beat Milk and egg together. Make a fine in flour mixture, then and pour in the egg mixture. Mix together to form a soft dough. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1cm (1/2 in) thick and cut to shape of choice.

Fry in hot oil (at approximately 170 degrees C) for 35 seconds, turn over and cook for a further 25 seconds untill golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper until cool. Roll in sugar or decorate with icing as desired.

Strawberry Glaze

Combine 1/2 cup thin chopped strawberries and half cup of powdered sugar. Stir until mixture starts to become moistened, let the mixure rest for 1 minute. Add in remaining powdered sugar and freeze dried strawberry powder and stir until well combine. Make the consistency of a thick glaze, and have a dip-able consistency,let the liquids of strawberry get extracted,then stir again. Just allow it to rest if needed until the strawberries begin to break down). Use glaze immediately
