Let’s examine the changes in the technology world with the tech news the globe saw this week, from Apple iOS 16 update rollout to New content additions on Disney+ Hotstar to a number of other electronic launches.

1. Apple Rolls out iOS 16

American tech giant Apple released its latest iOS 16 operating system update late at night on Monday. The 2.96 GB update, announced this year at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, brings quite a revamp to the operation of the iPhone. iOS 16 brings a redesigned Lock Screen with new ways to customise and widgets for information at a glance. iOS 16 also includes new updates to Messaging, Mail, Maps, Wallet, Health, News, Security and more.

2. Vivo Y22 launched in India

Vivo Y22 was launched in India. It has a 6.55-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution, a maximum brightness of 530 nits, and an 89.67% screen-to-body ratio. It is driven by a MediaTek Helio G70 SoC and has an internal storage capacity of up to 128GB and up to 6GB of RAM. The company’s website now offers two colour options for the smartphone for purchase: Metaverse Green and Starlit Blue. The price of the Vivo Y22 in India has been set at Rs. 14,499 for the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage; a model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will be made available later.

3. iQoo Z6 Lite 5G Design Unveiled Ahead of September 14 Launch

Prices and details about the iQoo Z6 Lite 5G have been released. The device has a 6.58-inch full-HD+ display with 240Hz touch sampling and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The iQoo smartphone is run on Android 12 OS and is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC. Although the Z6 Lite 5G has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging, it does not come with a charger. Amazon will start selling it in India on September 14. The cost in India is Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB + 64GB storage model and Rs. 15,499 for the premium 6GB + 128GB storage model. The phone will come in Stellar Green and Mystic Night colour schemes.

4. While Ether starts “Merge Week” on a sour note, Bitcoin briefly reaches $22,000 before falling.

The value of Bitcoin has increased by over 0.5 per cent in the last day, with prices now circling around the $21,700 (roughly Rs. 17.3 lakh) mark on international exchanges, while BTC is valued at $22,572 (roughly Rs. 17.98 lakh) on Indian exchanges like CoinSwitch and CoinDCX, 0.72 per cent higher than that on Sunday morning. This contrasts with Ether, which started “Merge” Week on a downward trend. Ether’s upward trend has persisted as we enter “Merge” week. On international markets, where the cryptocurrency’s value has increased by 2.05 per cent during the last 24 hours, Ether is valued at $1,728 (approximately Rs. 1.37 lakh), compared to $1,826 (about Rs. 1.45 lakh) on Indian platforms.

5. A 50% fee reduction for new sellers is announced by Amazon India ahead of the upcoming festive shopping season.

Ahead of the company’s upcoming discounts planned for the festival season, Amazon declared on Monday that it will cut the fees for new sellers on the e-commerce website by 50%. After revealing that the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2022 sale will start on September 23, the firm made the announcement. The e-commerce site claims that new sellers who sign up before October 26 and debut their products within 90 days would qualify for a 50 per cent discount on selling fees.

6. Puma releases its first metaverse application with NFTs that can be exchanged for actual sneakers.

The German sportswear juggernaut Puma has announced the launch of Black Station, its first-ever metaverse internet experience. During the ongoing New York Fashion Week, it will debut limited edition redeemable physical sneakers with distinctive non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as part of its “Futrograde” exhibition (NYFW). The goal of Puma Black Station is to provide customers with an immersive and engaging portal through which they may experience the brand’s future. Visitors to the metaverse website will arrive in a three-portal, hyper-realistic digital lobby area. Beginning on September 7, the first two portals will include unique, never-before-seen Nitro NFRNO and Nitro Fastroid shoes related to Puma’s most recent Nitropass NFT mint.

7. The eighth season of Koffee With Karan, Showtime, and Disney+ Hotstar was announced at the D23 Expo in 2022.

Three new Indian television shows — Showtime, Mahabharata, and Koffee with Karan Season 8 — are coming to Disney+ Hotstar‘s streaming service. At the D23 Expo on Saturday, Disney+ Hotstar’s Head of Content Gaurav Banerjee made the announcement. The Anaheim Convention Center in California, United States, is the venue for this event. With the addition of these three new shows, the platform expands its partnership with Bollywood producer Karan Johar and forges new ties with Madhu Mantena, Mythoversestudios, and Allu Entertainment.

8. Twitter limits the use of the edit button, allowing only five changes in a 30-minute period.

Last week, Twitter revealed that it was developing an edit button for the microblogging platform. Before being made generally available, the functionality will initially be made available to Twitter Blue subscribers in a few countries. Users will be able to go back and change their tweets within 30 minutes thanks to this eagerly expected edit feature. Twitter will apparently restrict users to just five edits throughout that time. The social media behemoth might have included this new option to discourage users from testing out the new edit capability.

9. Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Edge 30 Fusion to be Launched on 13th Sept

On September 13, Motorola Edge Ultra 30 and Edge 30 Fusion will go on sale in India. Through Flipkart, smartphones will be accessible in the subcontinent. With a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, the device has a triple-back camera configuration. It has 256GB of internal storage and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC-enabled Motorola Edge 30 Fusion features a 6.55-inch pOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage.
