The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is actively encouraging the preservation of local traditional and cultural values by empowering local communities. Known for its fervent enthusiasm in celebrating festivals, Madhya Pradesh becomes an alluring destination during Holi, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its vivid culture and warm hospitality.

Festive Traditions: Bhagoriya and More
The Bhagoriya tradition of Madhya Pradesh, rich in cultural value, sees the Bhil tribe performing a variety of sacred rituals during the harvest period.
Devotees from across the nation gather at Mahakal Lok to revel in the festivity amid the divine aura of Lord Shiva’s abode, where the first Holika Dahan of MP takes place. Additionally, a grand Maha Aarti takes place at Sethani Ghat in the Narmadapuram district, where the sacred waters of the Narmada River flow, enhancing the spiritual ambience of the festivities. Meanwhile, in Chhindwara, the Meghnad Fair sees different Maharashtrian communities coming together to apply colours to Lord Mahadev, symbolising unity and harmony.
Regional Celebrations
Indore Gair welcomes lakhs of visitors each year on Rang Panchami at the Rajwada Palace, where joy and colours wash the streets with water cannons dating back to the Holkar Dynasty. Bullock carts loaded with herbal colours add to the vibrant atmosphere.
Musical Extravaganza
Notable Holi celebrations also include those in the Bundelkhand region, particularly at the Ram Raja Darbar of Orchha, where the festival is marked with fervour and reverence. In Gwalior, music enthusiasts can look forward to an electrifying performance by the Saregama Music Group at Shinde Ki Chhawni Mall.
