All You Need to Know About Yoga International Day

Yoga refers to the physical and mental well being of the person. Yoga has become extremely important in our life. Yoga had deep significance in our Indian tradition and since time immemorial it has been healing people of all age group. Yoga is not concerned with exercises; it is about how well your body moves and functions.

Since Narendra Modi became our PM, emphasis on yoga has increased. People are motivated to practise yoga and withdraw their faith in artificial medicines. More and more stress on healthy living is being given these days. The idea of International Yoga day was first proposed by honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21st July. This is the longest day of the year and thus PM proposed that this day should be celebrated as International Yoga day so that our body could benefit maximum out of this day.

The first international day was observed on 21st July 2015. Ministry of AYUSH made all necessary arrangements on this day. More than 40,000 people along with Narendra Modi and dignitaries from 84 different nations registered their presence at Rajpath on this day. 21 different kinds of yoga asanas were performed for 35 minutes at Rajpath on that day. This international yoga day was observed by people all over the world on that day. NCC cadets were recognized by Limca Book of Records as the “Largest Yoga Performance simultaneously by a single uninformed youth organization”.

Rajpath event also attracted Guinness world records for two major reasons. The first record was of largest yoga class which was attended by a record 35,985 general public and 84 different countries participated to make this event a grand success.
