If you are planning to visit a new born baby or attend a naming ceremony, the first question that pops up in your mind is: what to buy. While close relatives and friends usually go by tradition and buy gold and silver stuff, but is it really a useful gift? The baby is obviously not going to admire it! Instead, chose the absolutely must-haves in a new born’s life. Things as basic as diapers or bibs, but trust me these things will be used on a daily basis! And yes, baby shopping is the cutest things to do! Here’s a list:
1. Clothes
Infant clothes: Go for loose, soft and comfortable cotton clothes. Buy simple tees and sleep suits. If it’s winter or monsoon time, but warms and woollens.
Bibs and burp: Clothes Feeding bibs and burp clothes are essential because feeding a baby is one messy task. Purchase, at least, six of each.
Hooded towels: After giving them the bath, babies have a tendency to catch a cold. You can buy a hooded towel which covers their ears and protects them from cold.

2. Feeding accessories
Consider buying feeding cup, baby spoons and dishes. The market is flooded with such items.
3. Diapers
Sounds weird? Trust me it is one brilliant idea! A new born baby needs about 10 to 12 diapers each day. Go for the large money saver packs or diaper pants.
Diaper wipes
Giving diaper wipes is another good gifting option. Go for branded wipes, these are hygienic and medically proven. These are soft, a must for babies.
Diaper cream and jelly
It is necessary to protect baby’s skin from rashes. These creams will keep baby’s tender skin smooth and soft.
Diaper disposal bin
You get these bins in which you can dump the used diapers. These keep home odour free.

4. Baby’s bathtub
Consider buying a bath tub. Utmost care must be taken while giving a bath to a baby. Bath tubs are comfortable.
5. Crib
Go for a baby crib or baby cot with firm foam mattress and two sets of sheets. Include a soft fitted baby blanket.
6. Stroller
Buy a nice branded Stroller. They are of great help to mothers. It’s not an easy task to hold a baby and roam around. Even babies don’t feel comfortable. Buy a flat stroller wherein a baby can lie comfortably.
7. Car seat
Though traffic rules in India don’t specify that a car seat is a must while driving with a baby around, it is a must from the safety point of view, especially if you are taking a road or a flight.
8. Infant swing
Swing is a good gifting option. Once a baby gets comfortable in a swing, mothers gets a lot of free time to do so many others things. There are various options in the market; jolly jumper is a good option.
9. Baby bouncer
Baby bouncer is like a chair with straps. Once you make your baby sit in it, its vibration mode puts babies off to sleep.
10. Nightlight
Nightlights are a good option. You may have to wake up many times at night to feed a baby or to change her diapers. Nightlights allow you to do all this without switching on the main light. They are available in beautiful shades and colours, babies just love them.
