Skin & Beauty Tips To Get You Through Winter

Each season calls for its own set of skin care routines and with the winter on in full swing, it’s time to change to the winter beauty routine, if you haven’t already!

Here are a few tips to keep your skin healthy this season.

– Switch To A Heavy Moisturizer

The onset of winter often brings in extra dry skin and it’s important that our moisturizer has the potential to tackle it. Most of us use light moisturizers through the hot and humid temperatures and now is the time to switch it up to a heavy one to make sure our skin gets the nourishment it needs.

– Oily Skin Women, Don’t Turn Away

Women with oily skin, don’t turn way from the moisturizer! Winters can unforgiving on your skin too. And if your skin doesn’t get the nourishment and the hydration it needs (which is very likely), it will secrete even more oil to counter it. The best thing to do here is choose a light, water based moisturizer.

– Switch Your Make Up

Go through your make up and anything that doesn’t provide hydration or nourishment, has no place in your make up kit.

– Don’t Do Matte Without Proper Care

Yes, we all love our matte lipsticks but when put incorrectly, it can turn into a disaster in the winter months, especially if you have dry lips. If they’re too precious for you to let go during the season, make sure to gently exfoliate your lips before you put them on. Also, carry a non-greasy lip balm in case the creases on the lips start to show.

– Hands Handled With Care

Opt for soap free cleansers or hand wash and alcohol free sanitizers as these two elements can really dry the skin out. Also, moisturize as much as possible, after each hand wash.

– Cover It Up

Not just hands, but even feet tend to get dry and parched during winters. One way to keep them soft is to moisturize them and then cover them up, with gloves or socks. This traps the moisture in and let’s your skin soak it in. Even one hour of this routine can make a difference.

– Scrub and Exfoliate

Dead skin cells are quite common during winter months and an not scrubbing these off can result in flakey skin. Exfoliating and scrubbing can get rid of these dead cells, resulting in softer and smoother skin.

– Tone It Up, To Close It Up

Winters = hot water baths and hot water and steam open up the skin pores, so it’s important to use a toner to close those pores up.

– Don’t Skip The Sunscreen

The sun may not be harsh, but that doesn’t mean the harmful UV rays are absent. They’re still very much there and your skin needs the protection.

– Drink Water

Okay, so you’ve heard this a thousand times, but that’s because this tip is just so damn important! Drinking water will help keep you hydrated from inside!
