Some afternoons stay with you long after they’re over. VIRGIO’s first-ever community event in Mumbai, held at Blah in Santacruz on September 20th, was one such beautiful afternoon, a celebration of fashion, inclusivity, music, creativity, and sustainability that left everyone feeling inspired.
The event marked the official unveiling of Beyond The Curve (BTC), VIRGIO’s size-inclusive, earth-friendly fashion line co-created with actor and advocate Anjali Anand. Designed for women sized 2XL to 6XL, BTC is more than just clothes. It is a movement that celebrates bodies that have long been ignored by mainstream racks.

A Warm Welcome and a Vibrant Setting
As guests arrived at the chic venue, the energy was instantly welcoming. Music filled the air, food stalls offered delicious bites, and laughter set the tone for the day. The cozy, community-led format made it feel less like a corporate launch and more like a gathering of friends who believe in the same vision: fashion that embraces everybody.
The highlight of the afternoon was the interactive corners that encouraged guests to engage creatively. From nail art to bracelet-making, these hands-on experiences added color and joy to the day. One corner hosted a Q&A on sustainability, sparking thoughtful conversations about how fashion can be both stylish and earth-friendly. A mission VIRGIO has embraced since its inception.

Beyond The Curve collection
The centerpiece of the event was the stunning display of the Beyond The Curve collection. Flowing silhouettes, breathable fabrics, and trend-forward designs graced the space, showing that style has no size limit. The line’s ethos of thoughtful craftsmanship and circular fashion came alive in every garment. Guests admired the pieces up close, and it was clear that BTC wasn’t just about inclusivity in numbers — it was about reimagining what it means to feel truly seen in fashion.
Anjali Anand, who co-created the line, spoke passionately about her journey: “I’ve spent years being told what not to wear. Beyond The Curve is my answer to that — bold, unapologetic, and made for every woman who’s ever felt unseen. With VIRGIO, I didn’t just co-create clothes. We built a space we never had growing up.”
Her words resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom nodded in agreement and shared similar stories of struggling to find clothes that matched their style and personality.
Beyond the fashion, the event was about people. It was heartwarming to see women of all sizes come together, celebrating themselves and each other. Conversations flowed freely — about style, about sustainability, about self-expression. The sense of community and acceptance made the day memorable.
Our own chat with Anjali Anand was a highlight. Warm, grounded, and deeply committed to the cause of body inclusivity, she shared anecdotes from fittings, fabric trials, and the design process, giving us a glimpse of how personal and authentic this collaboration has been.
A Step Toward the Future of Fashion
What made the day even more special was VIRGIO’s commitment to sustainability. Every element of BTC follows their eco-conscious ethos — from using circular fabrics to producing collections on-demand to avoid waste. The invite-only model added another thoughtful touch, ensuring mindful production while also making the community feel exclusive and valued.
As the afternoon sun streamed through the venue, it was clear that this was more than a fashion event. It was a movement toward inclusivity, sustainability, and mindful fashion, wrapped in the joy of music, creativity, and togetherness.
