6 Make It Yourself Homemade Spices

1.Indian curry powder


4 tablespoon Coriander seeds, 2 tablespoons of Cumin seeds, 2 tablespoons of Mustard seeds, 2 tablespoons of Fennel seeds, 1 tbsp Black peppercorns, 2 tbsp Ginger powder, 2 tbsp Turmeric powder (it is better if you use turmeric root), 2 tbsp Red chili powder, 2Cardamom, 2 Cloves.home-made-spices


1)Heat the plain pan on a medium flame add 1 tbsp oil roast all seeds separately till they are golden brown 2)Now roast remaining ingredients except the powdered ingredients. 3) Place the all roasted ingredient on a plate, let it cool down. 4) Now mix all above ingredient and grind well till it becomes fine powder.5) Store in the airtight bottle in a cool and dry place.

Can be used in chicken curry, egg curry or in vegetables, soups.

2.Italian spice

In a bowl mix together ½ cup dry oregano leaf, 1 tbsp black pepper powder,1/4 tbsp red pepper powder 1/4 cup thyme leaf, ½ cup basil leaves, 3 tbsp parsley, celery salt 1 tbsp and regular salt 2 tbsp, 2 tbsp dry onion powder, 1tbsp sugar,2 tbsp garlic powder. Shake well and store in a cool and dry place in airtight container.

Can be used in spaghetti, lasagna, eggplant parmesan.

3.Spicy chili Mix

1/2cup Chili powder, ¼ cup garlic powder, ¼ cup oregano, 2tbsp paprika, 3 tbsp cumin seeds, 1tbsp thyme, 3tbsp onion powder, salt. Store in the cool and dry place away from heat and light in an airtight container.

4.Rice mix spice

2 tbsp dried basil, 2 tbsp dried parsley, 2 tbsp onion powder, ¾ tbsp garlic powder, ¼ tbsp dried thyme, 1 tbsp chili flakes, 1 tbsp oregano flakes, 1 tbsp cumin seed powder, 1 tbsp salt.
Mix well and shake store in cool and dry place in airtight container.

Can be used in any vegetarian or non-vegetarian rice.

5.Thai spice

4 tbsp dried lemongrass, 4 tbsp dried lemon zest, 8 tbsp dried mint, 4 tbsp white pepper powder, 2 tbsp black pepper powder, 1 tbsp cumin powder, 4 tbsp dried basil leaves, 2 tbsp chili flakes, 2 tbsp onion powder, 1 tbsp garlic powder. Grind till it becomes a fine powder. Store in cool and dry place in airtight container.

Can be used in any authentic Thai recipe.

6.Pizza spice

4 tbsp dried oregano, 2 tbsp dried basil leaves, 2 tbsp garlic granules, 2 tbsp chili flakes, 1 tbsp dried thyme, 1 tbsp Fennel seeds crushed, 1 tbsp white and black pepper powder.

Can be used in pizza, pasta, spaghetti and soups.
