Style Guide Winter 2013

Early winter morning glory and wardrobe make over with season’s latest style guide is something to look forward. Fashion pundits are pushing for a rethink of the season’s usual sartorial traps.

Monochromatic must-haves

The elegance of black and white monochromes are unmatched till date. This year’s trend emphasises on dual colours monochromes. Some collections are stocked by Kallol Dutta, AM:PM, Arjun Saluja and Alpana and Neeraj. Fabricated on printed silk, satin and crêpe de Chine, the modern and bold black and white combination synthesised with graphic prints to produce a dramatic effect.

Stripe Alert

A print for all to define a new statement of life is striped. From Acne, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Topshop Unique to Dolce & Gabanna, stripes are the talk of the town. Creating the look at home is quite simple: get a boxy square shirt in a graphic black and white stripe print, available in Zara stores. Either invest in striped extended trousers or skirts, which can be paired with a simple black or white tee.

Tummy Tuck Alert

In early and mid 90s showing off the midriffs were high on fashion alerts. This season again sees a come back of cropped tops teamed with chiffon or cotton or linen trench coats. Benetton, Forever18, Elle brings in the ideal look of the season. Also, a tip before flaunting the toned midriff: pair cropped tops with a high-waisted bottom that at least covers the belly button.

Girl on fire

Red is a colour of all the season. Bold, fiery, romantic the winter doesn’t let it go. Piping hot red pants from Pepe has made a huge impact along with red bold frilled skirts. For the less courageous, go for either a tailored pair of red pants, or invest in a bright burning clutch or cap.

Floral Explosion

All summer face the new definition of floral prints in many chic formats. But this season the flower power has overpowered all the trend setters in daily wears. Stalking the range, this year the flowers have grown over jackets, shoes, caps, pants, shorts all over the wardrobe.
