Integrating art and interior products from around the world is the way to make your home speak about who you are. So an African statue or a small tribal structure placed in a minimalist and contemporary set-up will have your guests wondering which zone to place your creative ideologies in. You could further the deco with jali work on the windows or as partition between two rooms.

A really fresh trend is of having knitted furniture albeit small ones in your sitting are. A yellow knitted stool or a lime green chair thrown in a classy set-up would make for an interesting contrast. Similarly, knitted carpets lend a very warm mood to the bedroom. Or if you are living in a hill station then the sitting area too. Also pile carpets are a definite no-no, replace with flat weaves for the future look.

Usually going through a roller coaster ride, the flower patterns are back again. Florals & blooms against pale white walls and floral motifs on your cushion, on the table lamp and centre pieces; they will look pretty as a picture. Just be cautious of the colours you contrast. Add some real flowers to add drama; colour block them. A dark blue wall with mild hued blue flowers will make your room liven up.

Along with pretty blooms, even natural greens are catching up. Lining your sitting area with small pots placed vertically in a wooden or a steel rack. Or putting a large cluster of trimmed grass on the wall does the trick of getting nature inside you home.

Wallpapers are trending like there’s no tomorrow. Put them on your stairs, in the cupboards and definitely on the walls. Take your pick from embellished ones to the subtle prints; match it with décor of the room. In a black & white set up, embellished wallpapers works up a royal touch. Similarly, reds and corals will rock your décor if the furniture and flooring are wooden. Add few potted flowers to get the perfect country look.

Always in vogue on clothes or décor, stripes just can’t be ignored. Layer them on your wall, switch from thick to thin and mix colours till you arrive on the wow for your palate. No faux pas in colours, choose from orange to purple and all the shades in between.
