American Dessert Brand Carvel Set to Enter Indian Market with New Delhi Launch in August

Carvel, the American dessert brand known for its soft serve ice cream, is set to launch in India this August with its first outlet in New Delhi. With a legacy spanning over 90 years, Carvel’s entry marks a significant addition to the country’s dessert market.

Unify Foodworks to Drive Nationwide Expansion

Founded in 1934 by Tom Carvel, the brand is known in the United States for its creamy soft serve, ice cream cakes, and playful dessert offerings. The Indian foray is being led by Unify Foodworks, which has secured exclusive master franchise rights and plans to open 100 outlets across major Indian cities over the coming years.

“As we enter the Indian market, our aim is to create warm, welcoming spaces where families, students and professionals alike can pause, connect and savour something special,” said Sumer Sethi, Founder of Unify Foodworks. “We are excited to bring this experience to India and become a part of everyday celebrations across the country.”

Carvel’s First Store in New Delhi

The first store in New Delhi will offer a range of products including Carvel’s classic soft serve, signature Flying Saucers, and flavours such as vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, pistachio, and coffee. The store design will blend the brand’s welcoming American identity with local sensibilities, aimed at creating a warm and inclusive dessert experience.

Steven Yang, Senior Vice President, APAC at GoTo Foods International, noted that India represents a high-potential market for Carvel. “We see strong alignment between Carvel’s legacy of quality and flavor, and the evolving tastes of Indian consumers. Our work with Unify Foodworks gives us the local insight and operational strength needed to grow with intention and impact,” he said.

Cultural Expansion Through Dessert Experiences

The dessert brand says Carvel’s launch in India is not only a commercial expansion, but also a cultural one. It represents the growing openness of Indian consumers to international food experiences that feel both novel and familiar.

As of March 30, 2025, Carvel had over 370 locations across 14 countries.
