The fixed firm pose
This is known as supta vajrasana.
- Sit with your knees folded and your butt on your ankles.
- Slowly remove your ankles from under your butt but see that remain pointed backwards rather than sideways.
- Gradually lean back on both elbows.
- Lie down with shoulders only touching the ground.
- Touch your soles with your palm.
- Keep your breathing slow steady and remain in this position for about 30 seconds.
Benefits:
Burn fat at hips and butt. It improves the flexibility of the lower spine, joints and knees and hips.
The bridge pose
This is known as the setu bandhasana.
- Lie down on your back and hold your legs at the knees.
- Using both hands hold the ankles and tuck in your knees.
- With both hands holding the ankles raise the middle part of the body while your shoulders remaining still in contact with the ground.
Benefits:
It strengthens the hamstrings, buttocks and the back. Stretches the spine, hips, chest and the neck.
Backward bend
This is known as ushthasana.
- Get down to a sitting position with your legs tucked in beneath you.
- Raise your body on your knees.
- Swing the left arm in a circular way to hold the left ankle.
- Keeping hold on the left ankle do the same with the right arm.
- Try to bend your hips forward.
- Stay in this position for about 20 seconds.
Benefits:
Reduces fat at the hips and the thighs. Improves posture.
