Brides, Here’s Why Your Bridal Style Should Always Be In Sync With Your Personal Style

For most brides, a wedding means a hall pass to be dressed in a way you’ve always dreamed of. It’s a no hold barred thing almost, well, apart from price of course. But what most brides forget is that it’s essential to still stick to an outfit that is close to one’s personality. Why, you ask?

You Don’t Want It To Be A Mere Costume

When you wear an outfit that isn’t in sync with your personality, there’s going to be a discord between your attitude and your bridal attire.

“When I got married, I planned a super fun and relaxed wedding and that’s how I am in real life too. But growing up, I had always imagined myself as a royal princess bride and that’s exactly the look I went for. Elegant and classy. While the outfit was beautiful, it totally didn’t match my personality. There I was, dancing, laughing, screaming, hooting and being nothing close to graceful. When I look back at the pictures now, it really does look like I’m in a costume of a royal princess. At no point did I actually look like a royal princess – my behaviour was far from it,” Sonali, a Delhi bride who got married last winter.

You’re Most Likely To  Style It To Suit Your Personality, Not The Actual Outfit Style

Each bridal outfit gives off a certain vibe and it should be styled to suit that vibe. Styling it or wearing it in a manner that is not in accordance with the outfit style will only take away it’s charm.

Riddhima (name changed), a Mumbai based journalist shares an example, “I had been to the wedding of a friend and she had picked out  a super funky Manish Arora lehenga. I hate to say it but that lehenga lost all it’s charm because of the way the bride styled it. She opted for a traditional look and it took away all the quirkiness of the lehenga.”

It’s also important to keep in mind that your make up and jewellery will be in accordance with your outfit. So if you are someone who wants the classic bridal look – red lipstick, heavy eyes and all, for your wedding day, choosing a pastel coloured lehenga is probably not that great an idea!

A Bridal Outfit Can Accentuate Your Personality And Bridal Style

A bridal outfit is often an extension of your personality. Wearing an outfit that’s in sync with the kind of bride you want to really helps! If you do want to be a coy, graceful bride – wearing a traditional bridal outfit, with two dupattas and all that jazz will really help you bring that out. Want to be a carefree, fun bride? Choose an outfit that’s fluid, vibrant and uncomplicated.

One of the best examples that comes to our mind with regard to this is what Anushka Sharma wore in Band Baajaa Baraat as her bridal outfit. Orange, not too heavy and super easy to dance in – it really complimented her character’s persona. Let’s face it, had she been wearing a heavily embroidered maroon and gold lehenga with a huge flare and a dupatta over her head, things would not have been the same.

Keep it real brides-to-be!

I've always enjoyed writing but the professional route to it happened by chance and I'm loving it! I literally have a billion dreams, one of which is to own an amusement park someday! I love to eat and often dream about pizza in my free time.
