Let’s talk about this. Vaani Kapoor got her chin job for her upcoming movie Befikre and Tweerati started trolling her and giving their brutal honest comments. So before we pass any judgment and make any comments on this subject whether it’s good or bad? Why should women do it? We spoke to Dr. Madhuri Agarwal, founder and medical director of YAVANA Aesthetics Clinic to know the truth about Chin Surgery.
1) Throw some light on Chin Job
A person with a sharp strong chin is seen as a confident, decisive, go-getter kind of person. There are two options for getting a chin job. There is the conventional surgical chin job where rubberized silicone implant is used and the latest one is the nonsurgical chin job with hyaluronic acid fillers. In a chin job where an implant is used, the chin job cannot be customized to the shape of the person`s face and at times can give an undesirable look. With changes in the face due to age, the implant remains the same and can begin to look unnatural. Nowadays, the nonsurgical chin job with dermal fillers is more preferable and popular as it can correct the chin precisely thus customizing the shape and contours as per the person personality and requirements.
A person with a round bell shaped chin is seen as a sign of beauty in women whereas a weak, wobbly chin or chin merging into the neck is considered unattractive and gives the impression of a weak, indecisive and unattractive personality. A well defined, shapely chin boosts the self and social image, job and matrimonial prospects. Hence both women and men are increasingly opting for a good chin job.
2) Things to know before doing the chin surgery?
It should be done with a certified dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. The US FDA approved products recommended in dermal fillers such as Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Perlane currently available in India. The treating doctor will do a detailed consultation and examination to understand the profile of the person and then design the customized chin job with fillers. It is done after application of a numbing, anesthetic cream for 30-45 mins to ensure the procedure is smooth and comfortable. The procedure takes about 15-20 mins with an expert doctor.
3) Can you tell us about aftercare?
With dermal fillers, there is very little aftercare and downtime. A person undergoing chin job can go back to work immediately. There may be bruising, swelling and mild pain which settles down in 7-10 days. Any facial massages and repeated touching the chin area is to be avoided for at least 3-4 weeks.
The results with a dermal filler can last anywhere from 1-2 years depending on the product used.In case someone does not like the chin job or is unhappy with the results,it can be immediately removed by a minor procedure with the expert doctor and the person goes back to the original chin shape within 4-7 days
