The Art of Taking a Break

It’s ok to prioritize personal life before work, but research shows that doing so from time to time can actually be healthy.

Break – a word associated with unproductivity. Ironically, taking a break can actually boost your productivity. Various studies have proven this phenomenon. Then why do we recoil away from this thought? Our brains are conditioned from a very young age to go the extra mile and be productive. In reality, the toll of being constantly under pressure can actually hamper our goals and productivity. It can put a block between our thinking abilities and make us resentful.

So, let us try some creative ways to take a break and boost our productivity:

1.Try Podcasts

Podcasts are on the rise and only show positive growth in the near future. Nowadays, you can find a podcast in every genre from crime to current affairs and even history. Listening to a podcast during your commute or just when you want to relax can leave you to feel rejuvenated and relaxed.

2.Watch a Foreign language film:

Language is no longer a barrier between people of different countries. The love of foreign language movies has been steadily increasing and India is not behind in this race. Watching a movie of a different language will open your mind to different cultures and also teach you at least a few words in that language. It’s a win-and-win situation if you like to be a little productive even when you are taking a break.

3.Take up offbeat tutorials

What another way to get numbers and buzzing information out of your head than to learn something completely unheard? Learning to brew your own beer, design skills or even learning a completely remote language is possible online. It might sound absurd but it is a good way to stop your brain from getting anxious and remain calm.

4.Try Skincare:

Skincare should never be associated with gender. It is an act of self-care and that’s the only way to see it. Extreme stress can leave your skin look dull and lifeless. So, an excellent way to take a break would be to relax with some good old skincare practices. Mud masks, pedicure, relaxing baths and facials- the possibilities are endless.

5.Spend time with your pet

Nobody can help you relax better than your cute little pets. In our daily hustle-bustle, we don’t give enough time for our pets. Make cute reels with them, make a special treat or simply go out for a walk with them to make them feel loved and lighten up your mood.

Remember to take small breaks in the race to achieve our goals because savouring the journey is equally important as the achievements.
