Top 5 Foods to keep you in shape

Healthy is the new rich, since money may or may not determine your health. Luxurious lifestyles are not really aiding in our good health. On the contrary, a sedentary lifestyle and the increasing stress make us more and more prone to obesity.

Keeping this in mind, I would like to share with you, what I feel are the 5 kinds of food that keeps one healthy, for varying reasons. And to be completely honest, I am on a diet these days. So naturally I would love that my friends partake of this information. Here goes:

Apples

The oldest trick in the book, this fruit contains an important element pectin. Pectin helps to a great extent in calming the hunger in one’s body, and that automatically leads to lesser binge eating at odd hours of the day. So keep an apple in your bag each day when you leave for college or for work, and chances are it will keep the dietician away too!

Green tea

Green Tea acts both as a stimulant for our metabolism to get geared up and as a hunger killer. So while we have green tea, it gives us the sensation of being full while also working the carbohydrates stored in our body. This proves to be a life saver during college exams and hectic work schedules. So I start having green tea today, and so should you.

Protein

Protein takes longer to break down during digestion than carbohydrates. Hence more calories are burnt in the process. The idea is simple; keeping the metabolism running with small doses of protein in every meal. So be it eggs, milk, peanuts or fish, keep up the good work and make them part of your diet.

Fiber

Fiber does not break down into any calories, so they don’t make you gain weight at all. A wise idea is to have a few fiber biscuits for the evening tea wherever you are. They are convenient to carry, and can be eaten whenever hungry. All it takes is to develop a taste for it.

Water intensive fruits and veggies

Summer is upon us and sooner or later the need to consume water intensive fruits and vegetables will become essential. What’s more, it helps you not gain weight as the major component of the food is water which replenished the system and does not add to calories. Make friends with cucumbers and watermelons and they will keep you healthy.

It doesn’t take much to remember small tips like these which may go a long way to contribute to your health. It is never late to develop healthy food habits that will only benefit us.
