The product I am going to review is actually quite close to my heart. Not only because it does what it says but because my mom uses it as well. I guess most of us have seen the advertisement of sensodyne on television and are aware that it’s a toothpaste for sensitivity.
Before I get into the details, let’s understand what sensitivity is. Sensitivity is not something that will take place overnight but a gradual process. Acidic foods that we drink like carbonated drinks, spicy foods, etc make the environment of our mouth acidic. These acids act on the tooth enamel wearing them off gradually. Over a period of time small pores are formed in the teeth due to the erosion of tooth enamel. These pores reach the dentin layer of your tooth which has minute tubules which come from the tooth pulp. Whenever you eat something cold or hot, it sends a shooting pain due to the pressure on these micro-tubules.
I have personally used the toothpaste myself. It is non-foaming and the taste is average. IT does reduce sensitivity with regular use.
It desensitizes the nerve ending of the micro-tubules making them less receptive to pain when exposed to cold, sweet or hot stuff that you eat.
Pros
Sensodyne helps to reduce the pain.
Regular use of Sensodyne helps to decreases sensitivity.
Cons
It is not recommended for kids. Shouldn’t be used by kids below 12 years of age.
Price
Rs 90 for 80 gm tube.
One small advice- do visit a dentist. Tooth sensitivity could result from an underlying dental condition as well. Till then stay well, and flash you best smile.
