WSL: You planned your journey as an entrepreneur at such an early age. What was your inspiration?
Kadambari: I am 26. A Lawyer by profession. However, there is always a love for something that keeps pulling you back. I started off with hand-painted jute bags. Then took a break because of my government job. But the deep connection with jewellery & accessories never faded. I started by following YouTube videos. How to make various types of earrings and other accessories. They were well received. When I finally started getting orders from people who were not my friends, I decided to get in Rangeesh Fulltime.
WSL: Tell us about the struggle and how small did you start off with? You had mentioned an order for Godrej. Pls elaborate on that, and how the business grew from there? How old is Rangeesh Handmade currently?
Kadambari: I started from my home with just 100 jute bags and 6 designs. The idea to hand-make Diwali gifts turned into a full-fledged business when I started putting bags on my Insta page. The biggest struggle was to manage deliveries with my work.
WSL: Tell us about your product range and its uniqueness.
Kadambari: Our range is quite vast. I try and keep adding 1-2 new product categories every month. From bags to earrings to cushion covers, we offer everything under one roof. Our most unique products are from our Khun Fabric range. Khun Fabric is deep-rooted in Maharashtrian culture and I wanted to give it a fresh look for a contemporary appeal.
WSL: Any tips & learnings to our women entrepreneurs on business promotion. How to draw customers’ attention on Instagram.
Kadambari: The best hack to promote business is to learn the ‘its and bits’ of social media. The best way to draw customers’ attention on Instagram is not just great quality product photos but also interesting stories and now Reels.
WSL: Please highlight on the raw material you use.
Kadambari: Most of the products are made of fabric. I source them locally with my mom.
WSL: What inspires your creative processes?
Kadambari: Creativity is all around you. From TV Shows to Movies and endless scrolling on Pinterest.
WSL: The pandemic has made you busier. How do you devote time to create new product lines?
Kadambari: During lockdown, I had a lot of free time to focus on creating. I tried a new craft everyday experimenting with whatever materials were available at home, which kept me super busy. It takes me a minimum 1-2 months to plan, create and then finally launch a product line. As everything is handmade, it takes a little longer to put my vision into the final creation.
