Life is at the peak of its uncertainty. A constant cloud of doubt hovers over our heads. Fear of personal health, loved ones, staying unnecessarily hooked to screens, insomnia and what not. All that seemed distant stress seems a next-door neighbour, all of a sudden – waiting to knock at our doors.
While life struggles in its quest for safe futures or positive pulls, we can definitely take fresh breaths of positivity and better ourselves by engaging our hearts & minds in the following activities:
1.BOOK READING
Books are considered to be a person’s best friends and his gateway to the world. They easily help a person soak in its pages, taking away anxiety and diverting attention. These are tough times and news, information coming from Social Media can be depressing. Give it a break and soak in some ‘me-time.
2.PAINTING
Don’t hesitate to bring out the Picasso in you, even if it displays the total opposite on canvas. IT’S OK! Just take the crayons or paintbrush and scribble your heart out. This is a good time to explore an old hobby. Frankly, even I’m not good with painting. But just sitting with my little one and getting my hands dirty, is worth a stress-free affair.
3.INDULGING IN STRONG TEA OR COFFEE MAKING
As you know hot liquids can be incredibly calming. Make yourself nice coffee, chamomile tea or cinnamon concoction, which can be really soothing during such stressful times.
4.HOT SHOWERS & FOOT SPA SESSIONS
Nothing fancy here! Even a simple hot shower bath is a great way to feel good about yourself. This is my personal favourite and I feel there is no better escape than this. Foot spas are great when you add a little fun with your kids. Even they enjoy thinking it’s an activity for them. I have made it an every afternoon ritual with my daughter.
5.POETRY
Reading or writing a poem can calm the senses
6.DON’T PANIC
As our futures get a little uncertain, fear begins to grip us. Remember this too shall pass. Concentrate on positive thoughts and engage yourself in any activity other than phone, Ipad or laptop.
7.CALLING SOMEONE UP
It could be your parents, siblings or best friend and share your feelings. They are your best listeners and they might help you in this situation.
8.TAKING SMALL STEPS
I wanted to bake for a long time. One fine day, I woke up, cleaned my OTG and started with making a Pizza. Frankly, it turned out tasty. It’s absolutely fine to not be a pro at things; the joy lies in the process.
9.DIGITAL DETOX
It’s easier said than done. During such times, our gadgets come so handily but they can literally drain you out with so much information and unwanted messages. One news link can take you to 100 different websites, eventually showing you content which you already knew or had no intentions of browsing. Just keep your phone away or lock it somewhere for that particular time and experience the difference.
10.MAKING A JOURNAL
Make a note of your thoughts, feelings and wish lists. Journaling helps to examine life through an analysis of how your year has been and you can reflect on whatever happened. Plus, it’s a great way to reduce stress & anxiety. Expressing in writing helps assuage psychological trauma and improves mood. Try it, you’ll love it.
