So the festival of colours is around and we will be back to the normal routine after holi (well, almost). But worried about the damage done to your skin and hair? Worry not. Dr Varun Katyal is here with some tips that will come in handy to get you over the Holi Hangover!
Post Holi Skin & Hair Care Tips
- One must remove the colour as soon as one is done playing Holi. The longer one lets the colour stay, the harder it is to remove. One must dust off all the dry colour before taking a shower.
- One must not use harsh soap or harsh cleanser to wash off the colours as it may further dry out the skin and make it irritable. One must use a mild, pH-neutral cleanser and avoid excessive scrubbing or rubbing as it may irritate the skin.
- One must apply a moisturizer immediately after the bath.
- While washing the hair, one must first rinse it with plenty of plain water to wash away the dry colours and then wash the hair with a mild shampoo. One must not over shampoo as this may further dry the hair and scalp. If the colour does not come off immediately, one must wash again in a day or two.
- One must use a good hair conditioner after the shampoo to prevent excessive drying of the hair.
- If the skin appears irritated, is red or a rash appears, one must apply a soothing lotion or calamine lotion to calm the skin and immediately consult a doctor.
- One must strictly avoid bleaching, waxing or facial for at least a week before and after Holi.
