None of us like to imagine the worst when it comes to weddings. And more so, in our country, where families spend a considerable amount of their savings into a wedding
Perhaps it’s the result of such big expenditures, that ‘wedding insurance’ is a trend that has come about in the last few years. And while it’s definitely got some people on board, a lot of people are still hesitant, simply because they don’t even want to think of such a situation, where something goes wrong.
A few years ago, there was an instance where the groom unexpectedly suffered Appendicitis, on the day of his wedding and had to be rushed in to the hospital for a surgery. The wedding was obviously postponed, but the families did end up suffering a huge amount of monetary loss.
And that, is the reality. Sometimes, things do go wrong. Things that are way beyond people’s control. And weddings are not a child’s play. Not only do they involve a lot of time and effort, they also involve a huge amount of money. So it only makes sense that one insures themselves against any losses that they may stand to incur due to unforeseen circumstances.
The insurance companies have sat up and taken notice of this need and jumped at the opportunity. A number of large companies in India now offer proper wedding insurance.
While almost all of them include protection against act of gods such as earthquakes, floods, etc, and things like burglary and hospitalisation of certain named persons, only a few bring in cancellation of the wedding due to dispute between the two parties under their scope. However, with so many insurance packages in the field now, one is almost bound to find something that suits their budget and scope.
While we don’t really like to think of the worst when it comes to weddings, it’s definitely worth looking into insurance for the same, considering the big bucks involved.
