New year resolutions don’t need to be limited to you alone. Here are six resolutions you can take with your main towards a happier relationship.
1. Some space to do your own things
While it’s obviously a lot of fun spending time with one another, take some time out to do your thing individually too, if you don’t already do that. Even if it’s something small, take out some time and do it. Pursuing our hobbies and passion can often relieve stress and contribute to our overall happiness. A happier you is definitely a step towards a happier relationship.
2. Make an effort to spend time with each other’s friends
It’s such a happy feeling when your loved one genuinely gets along with your friends! To have a good time with both sides together is something that can make a massive difference. Make that extra effort to get to know the other person’s friends and try to get along with them.
3. Get fit together
Getting fit is perhaps one of the most kept, and most broken new year resolutions. But let’s face it, fitness is important. Get together and make a plan. Head to the gym, play a sport or even just go for a 30-minute brisk walk together. You’ll be doubly motivated when you’re doing it together, you’ll enjoy it more and the benefits, of course, are endless.
4. Do more together
Dinner dates are fun, as is catching a drink at a fancy spot, but there are also so many more fun things you could do together! Go cycling, bowling, travel, there’s so much to do! Not only will you end up having lots of fun, but you’ll also create a lifetime of wonderful memories.
5. Share your goals for the year with one another
We all have some goals laid down, if not on paper, definitely in our heads, But somewhere along the way, we often tend to lose sight and we justify not meeting our goals with plenty of excuses. So take some time out this year and make a point to share your goals with one another and when you find your significant other low on motivation, make it a point to bring that back.
6. Let go of the past
Nothing ruins a relationship like bringing up instances of the past does. If you have gone through a rough patch or had some major fights in the past, it’s time to leave them there. Bringing them up again and again is just going to ruin the present. So this year, take some time to genuinely leave those days and moments behind and look forward to a happier future.
