A daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver and a beautician, she has become an overnight inspiration for countless girls who are scared to dream big. Stepping onto the intimidating land of Mumbai maybe have been daunting for a young Manya, but, as they say,-Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

She found a job in a pizzeria and supported her college education. She trained and groomed herself by observing the people around her. The World was her teacher and, Manya proved worthy of being an obedient student. If that doesn’t scream ‘Superwoman’, I don’t know what will.

Gender discrimination, social barriers, family pressure- nothing seems to have lasted in front of her courage and determination. Manya knew that she might not be privileged enough to enjoy various facilities and resources like the people around her but, she was adamant to carve her place in this society.

While her mother was insecure about her safety and dreams, Manya showed her mother the power of hope and dreaming. She encouraged her mother to find a job, which led Mrs Singh to transform from a housewife to a beautician. She not only flew higher but also gave wings to her mother.

In a world where women face countless barriers to find their voice, Manya has shattered every wall and every hurdle in her way. Her career choice had bewildered her family, but nobody could have stopped her. She didn’t want a boring life; She always wanted a little bit of masala and glamour in her life, so she worked for it.

She mopped the floors, worked in call centres, and trained herself for her pageant journey. While this is just the beginning of her story, Femina Miss India 2020 runner-up Miss Manaya Singh’s story should be heard and appreciated.
