Fashion and the pieces in our wardrobe can never be constant. But just to own that one trendy piece, we burn a hole in our pocket. However, who said you need expensive clothing to ace a look? You can achieve an equally trendy and stylish look on a budget for all seasons and occasions you want to by just following a few tips.

One does not need to spend all they have for that one look, but knowing how and what to do is all you need to be saved. The trick to being fashionable on a budget is what we are going to explain here.

Here are some tips that can help you build a fabulous wardrobe and get any look you want, but on a BUDGET

1. Don’t buy anything that’s only “trendy” for now

One of the most common mistakes is following what’s trending and buying them regardless of their use. By doing so, we ignore the basics that come under evergreen fashion. It’s always best to look up the usefulness of any piece of clothing before purchasing and checking how versatile it is rather than blindly following the trend only to stuff it in your wardrobe later. While a piece of cloth is not a life-long investment, but still is a long-term one. So making smart buying decisions is a must.

2. Get used to the online world

Buying stuff online is a great option if you know your size and fit perfectly. Online stores offer great deals than physical stores. Not only do you get great deals, but shopping online is also very convenient. The doorstep return and exchange policy – doesn’t that make your entire shopping experience more fun and seamless? Online stores are also super hit during the end of season sale as you get the best deals on all your favourite brands with no pain of travelling to a mall.

3. Make sure you have enough basics

This is the most important step towards building a budget-friendly wardrobe. We need enough basics in wardrobe to make sure we can put together numerous outfits with just one single piece of clothing. Basic pieces comprise solid t-shirts, basic denim skirts, and jeans, jackets, blazers, and white sneakers, etc. The list can go on and on and varies depending on where you are located. Having these in your wardrobe is a lifesaver as they can be mixed and matched with other pieces for creating a completely different outfit, helping you pass your days with ease and giving you an effortless look!

4. Find suitable alternatives

There are times when we are looking for that one piece obsessively. In such situations, it’s always best to look up alternatives online, where you can find the same piece at a much lesser price. Browse various sites online or physical stores you are familiar with and find the best deals. You can also wait for clearance sales or look up at thrift stores for trendy clothes at affordable prices.

Thrift stores have clothes resold to them for many reasons, and they resell those same pieces at easy to purchase prices and are best to add some unique pieces to your wardrobe. Being fashionable shouldn’t come with a heavy bill, and these stores make sure it doesn’t.

5. Know what you want

Knowing what you want before entering a store or visiting a site is crucial to avoid spending recklessly. This practice also makes sure that you don’t visit either without having to buy anything in particular. If we take random trips to our favourite store or browse shopping apps just because we are bored, we end up buying something that we didn’t even need in the first place. This not only makes us spend more than what we intend to but also extra, because, once you like a piece, you buy it irrespective of the fact it’s worth the price or not.

6. Create fun outfits by reselling or exchanging

Freshen up your wardrobe by either exchanging or reselling your least favourite pieces. You can resell those pieces to your local thrift stores or can swap pieces with your friends. Maybe you or your friend bought something, and now it doesn’t fit you or looks so flattering on you when you bought it. This is an ideal situation to swap your pieces, and it also helps you put those pieces to use one way or the other.

7. Get creative

One of the biggest mistakes people make even after having everything they need, from basics to classics, is not experimenting much with them. When you own pieces that you are sure you can create numerous outfits, don’t be afraid to get creative and try new outfit ideas which can help you level up your fashion game. Try different combinations and accessorize well and see your outfit go from basic to flattering.
