If you are staying in a rented apartment, it may not be your ‘home’, but you can always jazz it up as per your taste so that it gives you that welcoming feeling every time you come back from work. Most of the rented apartments are fully furnished and at times landlords do not allow occupants to make major changes to the basic architect of the house.
Here is how you can spice up your rented space without putting in much effort :
1. Plant It Up
Buy lots of indoor plants. This will give a natural look to your house and your house will look ‘fresh’ and ‘airy’! You can opt for low-maintenance plants that require minimum sunlight and basic cutting and trimming. Bonsai, Pink Anthurium, Money Plant or Bamboo plant are some options.
You can buy attractive planters or flower pots for these plants. This will change the outlook of your house. You may also opt for hand-painted planters, the ones that come in white and earthy colours. These planters are available in varieties such as brass, wood and ceramic. A nice decorative planter should cost you anywhere between Rs 130 and Rs 1,000.
2. Unique Lamps
You can change the look of your living room & bed room by investing in nice lamps. Variation in lights will not just elevate your mood, it will also give a classic look to your house. Various kind of lamps are available in market these days like table lamps, floor lamps, crafted pillar & wall lamps and even hanging lamps, which are available in various shapes, sizes and colours.
Depending on the colour of your wall and space, you can choose any of those. A nice decent lamp should cost you between Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. The best part about investing in lamps is that whenever you move out, you can take your lamps with you. This is one hassle-free way of doing up your rented apartment.
3. Quirky Nicknacks
These days there are many stores in market that sell quirky nicknacks. Right from an innovative toilet paper to tea glasses or tea kettle, these things bring in a dash of creativity to your house. You can create your own collage wall and put your pictures or you can use your bangles or dupattas to decorate your wardrobe or mirror. Throw away old cushions & bed linen. Just go and buy nice, new, colourful cushion covers, curtains, mats and table clothes. Right from Nawabi prints to geographical prints, sky is the limit when it comes to buying these things.
4. Buy Some Basic Furniture
You obviously don’t want to stuff your rented flat and also don’t want to buy heavy furniture because that will add to your hassle when you are moving out, but investing in a funky book shelf or a shoe rack or a mirrored almira won’t go waste! These things are long-term investments.
