4 Warning Signs you’re Getting Older

The first grey hairs, the laughter line that lingers, and the crows-feet – these are the obvious signs you’re getting older. But there are other, less well-known indicators of the ageing process. We know there are serious issues as we approach old age, in that we can run out of time to prepare ourselves to meet the potential physical, mental and financial challenges. Let’s look into a few sure signs that you are getting old. Can you relate to any of this?

Music from your high school days is now referred to as old school

“I don’t keep up with new music anymore”. How many times have you heard your friends say that? Perhaps people simply lose the passion for music as they get older. Their temperaments mellow out and they don’t need to show the world what music they listen to. (Interestingly, if your Facebook feed is any indication, younger folks show the world what they listen to; older folks show the world what they eat.)

Getting annoyed, as your reactions to stress

If someone is disagreeing with you or if you think things should go differently, but if doesn’t then within a fraction of a second you translate that into “I am not being accepted,” “I am not being liked.” Life is too short to be unhappy. If you are over-reacting and becoming resentful, angry and frustrated, over little things it’s a signal of aging which makes you react spontaneously to life events.

No Bloom in social life

When there are days when you could go easily without your phone, e-mail, taking pictures, friends and facebook. Perhaps, dentist appointments and health check-ups is on your calendar. You’re pretty sure it’s nothing serious, but it’s irritating and embarrassing to forget the name of your old friend when you go to introduce him, and if you take one more trip upstairs and forget what you went there for, you’re going to scream.

When it’s not a TGIF weekend anymore, rather a lazy weekend!

Back in the day when you were a young whipper snapper, Friday night was THE night to party. No school and no thought to do any homework in the morning. Now? If you’re work week has you so pooped and you’re looking forward to Friday just so you can fall asleep whenever and sleep in on Saturday, you are definitely ageing.

For women, aging seems to be a matter of mind over makeup. If women feel good about themselves, they look good, too. There is a certain age when a woman must be beautiful to be loved, and then there comes a time when she must be loved to be beautiful. And a woman is loved more as they get older — by their tight-knit families, their friends and, perhaps most importantly, themselves.
