While parts of the world are opening up amid the current pandemic, many of us still feel more comfortable staying in our own homes. But just because you’re not going out doesn’t mean you need to miss those date nights or your romantic routine. Try one of these ideas to make your time at home feel a little more exciting.

We’ve got you covered with ten stay at home date night ideas for couples.

1. Organize a karaoke party

One of the most entertaining at-home dates is karaoke! Sing along to all of your favourite tunes. You may search YouTube for karaoke renditions of songs and buy wireless microphones to use. You may also simply search YouTube for videos of your favourite songs with lyrics and sing your heart out.

This stay-at-home romantic idea is also a wonderful endorphin booster, which is always beneficial to your connection!

2. Perform a fun cardio workout

Even if you’ve been working out at home, many folks aren’t the dance-cardio-jazzercise kinds. Stepping outside of your comfort zone around each other, on the other hand, can be a terrific way to bond and remember not to take yourself too seriously. You get bonus points if you wear sweatbands and leg warmers.

3. Throw a tasting party

A tasting party is one of our favourite stay-at-home date night ideas. Choose any theme: whiskey, ice cream, cookies, chocolate, whatever, and present a variety of possibilities. Make “tasting stations” with anything and everything needed for the tasting party spread out and a sheet of paper to take “tasting notes” to make it even more exciting.

The possibilities for tasting parties for your at-home date night are endless. We’ve even had smoothie tasting parties in the past!

4. Make it a movie night

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you probably watch a movie every night, but why not spice it up a little? Make a fort, light some candles, assemble a cheese platter, and watch your movie. Tailor the experience to your partner’s preferences. This shows that you’re paying attention, that you want to please them, and that you want to spend an enjoyable evening with them.

5. Make something creative

Getting creative together is a fantastic bonding experience. Find a suitable craft or DIY project for your at-home romantic date to work on together.

6. Have an in-depth discussion

Play Never Have I Ever and Truth or Dare at your next sleepover. Your responses will almost certainly organically lead to some intense (in a good way!) conversation, shaking you out of your routine end-of-day discussions.

7. Invite each other to a cook-off

Getting competitive can be a great way to strengthen your relationships! Adding some competition to your home date ideas is a great way to spice things up and strengthen your bond! Instead of the usual cooking competition, why not challenge each other to a cook-off? You can assign each person a specific course to prepare, such as an appetiser or dessert, or you can assign each person a specific ingredient to incorporate into whatever they prepare.

For example, the ingredient could be pickles, and each person must create a creative dish that includes pickles in some way or a three-course dinner that includes pickles in each course.

8. Have a spa night in the comfort of your own home

Surprise your partner with an at-home spa after a long and stressful day or week. You can take a bath together and still move things to the bedroom and massage each other. Make sure you have a few candles lit and your favourite cocktails on hand.

9. Play traditional card games

Poker, War, Gin Rummy, and Go Fish — all you need is a deck of cards to have a fun night of competition. You can also play these games digitally if you would like to make it a double date and invite some friends along.

10. Go through the old photographs

Bring out the scrapbooks and photo albums, or browse through your digital photos for a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

If you’ve been continuing to put off making a family album, framing photos for your home, or creating photo books of your children, now is a great time to tackle the task while reminiscing about the wonderful times.
